Will it help me get into Medical School if I major in…?

PSYCHOBIOLOGY B.S

Because I will be attending UCLA this fall and psychobiology is unique to UCLA (only UC that offers this major). I’m wondering if the ‘unique’ aspect will be another positive factor on my med school app.

OR if it doesn’t make much of a difference than I might choose just Psychology B.A because I’m waverin between the two now….

HELP!!

Psychology is the easy way out. Do the psychbiology. You’ll stand out, which is necessary today.

Yes, it’s great to have a unique major.

Probably, if you think it will be useful. I can’t understand this method though, whatever happened to the days when people entered medical education straight out of high school on the strength of Maths, Biology and Chemistry? All the necessary central medical education was part of the 5-6 years.

Choose your major based on your passion for it, not whether or not it looks good. Med school admissions look at that most of all, and if you choose a major you don’t really enjoy, they’ll notice either through your grades, your recommendations, or your personal statement. Med schools also accept people from all kinds of majors and backgrounds. You will find the most success if you choose something that you really enjoy as long as you get the science requirements down too. Don’t worry so much about how it looks, besides a true reason for wanting to become a physician and the grades + MCAT scores to back it up, med schools look mostly for passion. They want to know you as a real person with your own personality.
