What is a good major for college that involves children and psychology?
Question by Jessica: What is a good major for college that involves children and psychology?
I want to declare my major after next semester and I really enjoy children and psychology. So I guess helping kids… But I don’t really want to be just a school councelor. Does anyone know about any successful careers that would come from a major that involves that kind of schooling? And if so, what is that major?! Ah!

Child psychology?
Even a remotely decent job will probably require a masters degree from what I’ve heard.

It depends on how much money you want to make. It’s difficult to find work in the field of psychology. I know a girl who got her doctorate and ended up working in human resources. A good job but not exactly what she had in mind. My advice IS to become a school counsellor. You can impact the lives of kids, you only work 44 weeks a year, you have summers off, holidays off, no evening, no weekends, good benefits, and a good retirement. You can also work through the school to run programs on the side for children in need. More help for the community and you might even make a few extra dollars for yourself. This is probably the best way for you to go in my opinion. Good luck.
