Temperament as in born with.
Character as in you develop.
What about shy, grumpy, touchy,open, anxious, argumentative, and flexible? Thanks!

working hard = conscientious
shy = introverted
open = extroverted
touchy, argumentative = extroverted neurotic
anxious = introverted neurotic
flexible/grumpy = varies

Hard working is a character trait, no one is born with a resident hard-working gene in them. Also, all the other traits or emotions you have stated are all character traits as in they are all either learn-ed or acquired as a result of conditioning and socialisation
