Malone’s Psychology is a “must-read” for any serious student of psychology, philosophy, or the history of Western thought. It is an “ought-to-read” for virtually everyone else. The book not only lays out quite clearly the essential philosophical underpinnings of modern psychology; it gives the subtext, the “back story”, gems from and about the ancestral and contemporary shapers of the field. The scholarship of the book is remarkable. In that light, it is perhaps more remarkable still that Psychology is a genuinely fun read!
