David Diana has written the book the mental health profession has needed for years! In a comprehensive, approachable style he clearly outlines marketing concepts and strategies that are effective, ethical and most importantly, easy to implement for any professional.

I appreciate that he doesn’t shy away from concepts of power, success, and sales. While some mental health professionals are uncomfortable with those concepts, they are what create profitable businesses.

David explores marketing approaches such as book publication, public speaking and utilizing social media and gives readers useful ideas and tools they can start using right away.

I’m a psychologist and a marketer and I have my highlighter out and am taking notes! “Marketing for the Mental Health Professional” is an important book in this age of the many changes in health care and our culture.

This book is fabulous! It is filled with very practical suggestions for creating and realizing your vision of your career/life’s work. For those of us who are less business- and technology- oriented, suggestions are broken down into easy-to-read and easy-to-understand steps, as well as real-life examples. It also encourages us to take a look at and begin to question our own resistance to “putting ourselves out there”, and to begin valuing our own unique talents and expertise–and to listen to our heart’s calling. One of the most delightful things about this book is that it is not a dry, facts-only book–it is warm, fun to read, and inspiring. I have put many of the suggestions in the book into practice and am well on my way to creating a career that I have dreamed of for many years. I have recommended it to several friends, including a few who are in professions outside of mental health, and all have found it very helpful. If you are interested in the book, I would also recommend signing up for Mr. Diana’s weekly articles/posts, as they have been very helpful and inspiring to me as well […]

David’s book provides an easy to read guide for recent graduates as well as established professionals. He gets down to the nuts and bolts of why marketing has changed and how to adapt to that change. He points to the internet and the conversations of world wide communities as a fact of life. Then he goes on to say how to thrive in the those communities as a mental health professional. I am using his book as a resource to help me as I start up my practice. Since reading David’s book, I found my voice and the courage to join in the many converations of the mental health community around the globe. His advice is invaluable. A must read.
