The best critical care manual,
Probably the best portable critical care manual on the market. I also have the latest Critical Care editions of the Washington and MGH series respectively, and they are by far not as clear or comprehensive.
I just don’t understand why Lippincott does not offer a spiral version, like they used to. (Probably so that the books will keep falling apart after a couple of years and people have to buy more of them.)

Excellent resource at the bedside,
Lots of critical care books out there, handbooks, pocketbooks and otherwise. This is the best because they don’t stick to medicine or surgery, they cover ALL topics pertinent to critical care.
I love the way their bibliography for each chapter is less “proof” of what they have written and more “this is what you need to read to learn more”.
A true handbook for those of us that do a lot of bedside medicine, ad a great learning resource for those wanting to know more more. An absolute MUST-HAVE for internal medicine residents.

Excellent Manual,
This is an excellent manual to review while on your ICU rotation, but like most manuals it’s too heavy to carry. It’s a nice book to leave in your call room during your ICU month, and read it between admissions.
