You would be overqualified for MOST positions in Human Resources, except for perhaps a person in charge of Administration OVER HR dept.’s… Or perhaps as a Psych. WITHIN the HR dept, SURE no problem, you could be hired into a postition like THAT very EASILY with those credentials…

I also received a doctorate in organizational psychology. I got a great job organizing major conferences, and then became a professor, but many of my fellow students got great jobs in industry, especially in training divisions of HR departments.

I agree with the person who said you would be overqualified for most positions in HR except the top positions.

I work with a graduate student population at Columbia and several of our students obtain Ph D’s in Social-Org. Psych. They typically pursue positions in HR in the corporate sector and are highly marketable. There are several rotation programs at companies like Colgate-Palmolive, Pfizer, Deloitte, etc. that would be interested in candidates with your credentials. Be sure your resume is professional and in tact and go for it!

    Good luck!
