I want to become a child psychologist, what should I volunteer with?

Question by Ella: I want to become a child psychologist, what should I volunteer with?
I am trying to decide between volunteering at a children’s hospital or at a homeless children shelter.. Would one give a better experience than the other when I want a career in child psychology?

Any place where you can observe or care for children, especially children who are facing a difficult life situation, would be helpful. Your 2 examples are both good. Why don’t you go for an interview in each setting, and see which one interests you more.

I would go for the homeless children’s shelter. You are more likely to see a wide variety of issues there.
