Woah, now there is an open ended question. There are so many variables, that there isn’t one set answer. It depends on what the issues are, how long they have had them, how willing the person is to seek help, how good the therapist is, how often they attend counseling, etc. Some people go for a quick crisis (divorce, death, etc), others go for long term issues. Either way, it can take weeks to years. Every person is different, just like every issue they have and how they relate to it, is unique to that person.

As others said it depends on the issue. Psychotherapy is a long term therapy though (years) it invovles techniques like dream analysis & free association. It isn’t practiced as frequently today as it is so long term & expensive. Most counselor use other technquies which help just as much but r shorter term, then the time taken truly does depend on the issue at hand. Hope this helps!

Depends on what you are going for. But usually psychotherapy lasts for 6 – 12 weeks and can become effective at any time. Hope this helps :)
