Question by : Could someone tell me more about this career? Psychopharmacology.? Hi, I’ve narrowed down my two career choices. I’ve decided that I want to be either a Psychopharmacologist or a Substance Abuse Counselor. I’m willing to go to as much college as it takes to get one of these careers. I’m planning on becoming a certified Pharmacy Technician while I’m still in high school, and I think that could help get me started in psychopharmacology, but I want to know more about this career. Like, where would I work and what would I do on a day to day basis? How much college would I have to go to, and what should I major in? Thanks much!:) -Kyle:] Best answer: Answer by…. In the second edition, Christopher Kratochvil, MD, a highly respected expert in pediatric psychopharmacology, joins the outstanding editorial team led by Dr. Martin and Dr. Scahill. Tachyphylaxis Article by qilei ExamplesExamples of tachyphylaxes are the following:Nitroglycerine demonstrates tachyphylaxis, requiring drug-free intervals when administered transdermallyRepeated doses of ephedrine may display tachyphylaxis, since it is an indirectly acting sympathomimetic amine which will deplete noradrenaline from the nerve terminal. Thus repeated doses result in less noradrenaline being released than the initial dose.Nicotine may also show tachyphylaxis over the course of a day, although the mechanism of this action is unclear.Hydralazine displays tachyphylaxis if given as a monotherapy for antihypertensive treatment. It is administered with a beta-blocker with…. Click Here to Read More
