Psychology Diagnosis Question…what would you diagnose as a Psychologist?

A patient comes to you with high levels of anxiety, is easily angered, has an exaggerated startle response, and reports nightmares. This patient tells you that she started having these symptoms when she worked with her previous therapist and began to recall episodes of sexual abuse, while under hypnosis. The patient stated that she initially sought treatment with that therapist due to feelings of anxiety and depressed mood related to an upcoming move that she was going to be making across the country and away from her family of origin. She has now moved to your town and is seeking your help. What disorder, if any do you think this patient might have? What concerns would you have about her…. Click Here to Read More

Question about Psychology?

I attended a stage hypnotist’s show a couple of nights ago with a bunch of friends and I volunteered for him. I remember him hypnotizing me (which did not take long, since I’m quite succeptible to hypnosis according to a test I took earlier) along with some others, and then I remember almost nothing until he woke us up. The only thing I remember when I was hypnotized was the hypnotist telling me to do something involving running around the room, me telling my mind not to, but my body still running around the room. I was told I was a hit. My friends said among the things I did was act like a chicken and think that the hypnotist was insulting my mom. I am also told I did quite a bit of…. Click Here to Read More

This is my fourth paragraph what corrections should I make?

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist who founded the psychoanalytic method and is known for his theories on the unconscious mind, hypnosis, the dream theory, and defense mechanism of repression. Even though Freud made a profound impact in Europe many of his theories were considered controversial. Freud believed that a child desires the parent of the opposite sex and wants to eliminate the parent of the same sex. This is widely known as the Oedipus complex.
