Career question… college student seeking help determining a “back up” career?

Which of these would have better benefits? I’m young enough that I still have time to figure out what I’d like to do, but old enough that I really need to at least have a CLUE. I’m interested in sports psychology, law, or teaching high school AP psychology/biology. I studied jurisprudence across the pond at Oxford University, and fell in love. Of course my advisors in the States say that it’s beneficial to seem well-rounded when applying to law schools, and to have a second career in mind. Ex: apply to law school with a econ/finance double major, which shows that you can go off and get an mba if you don’t get into your first choice law school the first time around. I know that these…. What job in health care would suit me?

I am currently trying to decide which career to pursue and hoped for the opinion of others. I am 21 and currently work in the corporate world and have become bored with my job. I want to do something where I can go home at night feeling like I made a difference. I have thought over many jobs but just can’t figure out which one of any medical job would suit me best. I am more than willing to attend university. I am a very analytical person, good problem solver and love to learn new things (within my abilities). I have considered the following: Genetic Counselor – Sounds great and I love biology however I am not sure if I could cope with Uni science and jobs are few and far between at…. Is it a typical tactic of anti-feminists to quote debunked research to assert male superiority?

With regard to the continuing debate on IQ differences between genders, It was one of the summer’s top stories. In August, two British academics announced that men are significantly cleverer than women and that male university students outstrip females by almost five IQ points. ‘Girls need manpower’ and ‘IQ tests: women just don’t get it’ claimed the headlines. The announcement was the latest round in a battle that has come to dominate psychology in recent years and has triggered countless workplace arguments and marital rows over the years. In this case, the formidable nature of the statistics used by the study’s authors – Dr Paul Irwing and Professor Richard Lynn – seemed to land a…. Click Here to Read More

The advantages of pessimism?

I just want to hear peoples opinions of pessimism, I am currently taking developmental psychology and I myself am a pessimist, as well as I have seasonal defective disorder as well as Attention deficit disorder, and slow processing speed disorder. This has caused me a lot of problems. I consider my criticalness as well as my pessimism to be a type of genius in a way I was wondering if others felt the same and where willing to give there opinions on this. If you want some examples Hitler was a type of genius in a way, you can also look at winston churchill who referred to his depression as his black dog who was his frequent companion. Also Martin Luther also suffered from depression….. Click Here to Read More

4.0 GPA, 26 ACT: What Can I do with this?

I’m no genius, but I’m a hard worker and a good student. I’m not a good test taker. Slow and steady doesn’t always win the race. The only portion I finished was the English portion, which I made a 34 on. I finished about 75% of the math portion, 75% of the reading portion, and 50% of the science portion. Those scores killed me. If it weren’t for the 34 in English, I would have never have even received the 26 composite. I was unable to finish the Writing portion, and received an 8/12 as a result. Adequate, but little else. I live in South U.S., and the ACT is emphasized more than any other test, especially for good colleges. My parents are of working class, and I really don’t want to burden…. Is my character a dreaded Mary Sue?! *horrified gasp* NOO! Please help?

I’m writing an fanfiction for the show Criminal Minds (if you haven’t watched it, it’s a really amazing, the team psychologically profiles serial killers/others and are awesome) and I’m concerned that my OC might be an Mary Sue! Though I do feel that a little Mary Sueness can actually benefit a character (who wants to read about a boring, untalented, ugly person?) BASIC PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: She has dark red hair that she always puts some form of braid in. She has a true red heads pale skin and spatterings of light freckles. She has light green eyes and a nose that is porportionally smaller than her face. She is only 5’3 and often wears high heeled shoes in a failed attempt at hiding…. Click Here to Read More
