Are there any prerequisites for child psychology in high school?
Such as… what would I need to take in high school to get into it? Annd are there separate courses for child psychology in university or are they essentially just one and the same thing (child psychology and just psychology in general)?

1. It depends on YOUR high school. No one on here can know if there are or aren’t pre-reqs.
2. College classes and high school classes are NOT the same thing. That’s why some colleges don’t even accept AP credits. It’s just not the same quality.
3. Are there separate courses or is there just one? It depends on the university. You’re gonna have to look and find out.

Normally colleges each have different high school requirements…but you probably will fill them and go beyond what they want. For example my school wanted 2 or 3 years of high school science but I actually had 5 since they counted what I did in 8th grade…they wanted 2 years of social studies but I had 4…they will probably just be very basic.
However, if your school offers any psych classes, I would recommend taking them to make sure you are still interested in the topic. Also, maybe you can get college credits in high school for a psych class.
And yes most schools with psychology programs have specific child psychology courses to take. They might call it Developmental Psychology, (I took that last semester). You may not be able to MAJOR in child psychology, depending on where you go, but you could probably specialize in it or something. Depends on where you go to college.
